For nearly 80 years, Tampa’s maritime economy has relied on companies that quietly keep global commerce moving through the region’s ports and shipping channels. Now, one of the city’s longstanding maritime firms is positioning itself for its next chapter of growth.
A.R. Savage & Son has named Scott Satter as its new chief commercial officer, expanding the company’s leadership team as it continues growing its customer partnerships and commercial operations across North America and international markets.
Guiding Growth in a Changing Maritime Industry
In his new role, Satter will oversee commercial strategy, business development initiatives and customer engagement efforts for the Tampa-based maritime transportation and logistics company.
The appointment reflects A.R. Savage & Son’s continued focus on strengthening customer relationships while identifying opportunities in an evolving global shipping landscape.
“Scott brings a unique combination of industry expertise, strategic vision, and customer-focused leadership that aligns perfectly with our long-term objectives,” said Arthur Savage, chief executive officer of A.R. Savage & Son.
“As we continue to grow our operations, Scott’s experience and proven ability to build strong commercial organizations will be instrumental in helping us deliver even greater value to our customers and partners. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”
A Tampa Maritime Legacy
Founded in 1945, A.R. Savage & Son has deep roots in Tampa Bay’s maritime community, growing from a local ship agency into a trusted provider of freight forwarding, cargo coordination and maritime advisory services.
Today, the company serves vessel operators, cargo owners, ports and logistics partners around the world, helping navigate the increasingly complex realities of ocean transportation and international trade.
The firm’s work often happens behind the scenes but remains essential to keeping supply chains moving — coordinating cargo movement, managing documentation and compliance requirements, supporting vessel operations and connecting ships with terminals, regulators and transportation partners.
That expertise has helped establish A.R. Savage & Son as one of Tampa’s longstanding maritime institutions and a critical link in the global supply chain that flows through the region’s ports.
Bringing Two Decades of Industry Experience
Satter arrives with more than 20 years of experience in maritime transportation and supply chain management, bringing a background that spans operations management, strategic growth and commercial leadership.
Throughout his career, he has built high-performing teams, developed market strategies and driven revenue growth across transportation and logistics operations.
Most recently, Satter served as a commercial and operations manager and previously held leadership positions as a port manager and traffic supervisor at ports and logistics hubs throughout the United States.
His professional credentials include recognition as an ASBA Certified Quality Agent Member as well as an ASBA certificate in the Business of Shipping.
Positioning for the Future
For Satter, the opportunity represents a chance to build upon a company legacy that stretches back generations within Tampa’s maritime sector.
“I am honored to join A.R. Savage & Son at such an exciting time,” Satter said.
“The company has built an outstanding reputation for reliable stewardship services throughout the maritime industry. I look forward to working alongside Arthur and the entire team as we continue to position the company for continued success in the years ahead.”
As Tampa Bay’s role in global trade continues to expand, A.R. Savage & Son is betting that experienced leadership and strong customer partnerships will help chart its course for the decades ahead.
