Club Savor membership serves discounts with a side of good karma

The St. Petersburg-based discount club helps diners save money and serves up a community-nurturing ethos.

If you eat out often for work or pleasure, you may have tried to cut down dining expenses by clipping coupon books and printing online deals with an outdated LaserJet that has been low on toner since 2008.

More compatible with today’s virtual sphere and in touch with local foodie tastes, Club Savor provides half-off discounts at dining and drinking establishments in St. Petersburg and beyond.

How does it work? Members get half-off entrees and alcohol at a variety of Bay-area restaurants – some you don’t typically find in coupon books. One member and one guest each receive half off one entrée and half off one single-serving alcohol drink (as long as it’s not a special or restricted by its local jurisdiction). At least three hours must lapse between multiple visits to the same destination. Certain entrées may not be included in the deal.

Participating Club Savor venues include downtown-area bars and restaurants, including Buya Ramen, Brass Bowl Kitchen, The Oyster Bar, Cafe Ten-O-One, The Brass Bowl, Thirsty First and the Flying Boat Brewing Company.

If you’re out by the south beaches, Club Savor offers discounts for St. Pete Brewing Company and the Angry Pepper, a longtime Madeira Beach favorite. Pour Yours, a swanky pour-your-own bar in downtown Clearwater, also participates.

Online reviewers say that the $29.95-a-month membership is ideal for people who dine out often in Tampa Bay. Member Julie Del Cueto said she has saved as much as $150 to $200 a month as a Club Savor member.

Continually in touch with St. Petersburg’s foodie scene, Club Savor owner Roger Curlin teamed up with Miguel Miranda of My Restaurant CFO to provide free individualized consultations to local restaurateurs who struggled during the recent COVID-19 shutdown. This past summer, Club Savor posted a virtual tip jar for St. Petersburg hospitality employees who have lost hours and tips during the pandemic.

Curlin, a pay-it-forward business owner with a law background, has future charity events planned (see Club Savor’s Facebook page) and credits the Burg’s communal spirit for fueling his perseverance:

“The collaborative spirit in St. Pete has been a major force behind our success.”
