Construction Begins at The Residences at 400 Central in St. Pete

Construction begins at The Residences at 400 Central.

Now that site work and testing is complete, construction is officially underway at The Residences at 400 Central. The mixed-use tower in downtown St. Pete will stand 46-stories on St. Pete’s Central Avenue. This first stage of foundation construction should be completed in the next few months. Above-ground construction of the 301 units is expected to begin in early 2023.

Safety in construction

Hurricane Ian has left many Tampa Bay residents worried and concerned about their homes flooding. 400 Central is not within a flood zone and, during this last hurricane, was located in a non-evacuation zone. Also, to prepare for the recent hurricane, the team at Suffolk Construction lowered and secured all construction equipment. 400 Central sustained no damage and construction has now resumed.

In contrast to the construction of many other downtown towers, these foundation elements will be drilled, and then filled with steel reinforcing and high-strength concrete, rather than being pounded into the ground—minimizing the disturbance to the project’s downtown neighbors.

The Residences at 400 Central

The Residences at 400 Central will create a new neighborhood in downtown St. Petersburg. It will tower 515 feet above downtown St. Petersburg’s Central Avenue. This will allow residents and visitors to have panoramic views from Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. This residential tower will be full service. It will even include a dedicated lifestyle coordinator who will activate the amenities and engage the community.

The 301 condominium homes will consist of one-to-four-bedroom floor plans and a selection of custom penthouse homes. Residents of 400 Central will have access to over 35,000 square feet of modern, private indoor and outdoor amenities.

Other developments completed by Suffolk include Montage Big Sky Residences near Yellowstone National Park, the Hudson Exchange West towers in New York City, and the Miami Central complex complete with two residential towers and a rail station.
