The National Association for Single and Divorced Families (NASDF) has announced the launch of Support Insured, calling it “the first insurance product of its kind designed specifically to safeguard child support and alimony payments in the event of involuntary job loss, short-term disability, or death.”
“Child support is typically covered with life insurance but with limitations to covered events and has not included alimony insurance,” NASDF shared. “Support Insured is the only insurance that provides child support insurance and alimony insurance under one policy.”
“For too long, families have had to rely solely on court orders and hope for the best,” said Ron Platt, CEO & Co-Founder of NASDF. “Support Insured was created to give families more than just a policy, it’s about protecting and providing for the children whose well-being depends on that support.”
According to NASDF, “Support Insured is designed for flexibility, allowing either the person making support payments (the payor) or the person receiving them (the payee) to purchase the policy.”
“The time to plan for life’s ‘what-ifs’ is when agreements are being made, not after something goes wrong,” said Joy Read, COO & Co-Founder of NASDF. “Including Support Insured in the initial separation or divorce discussions ensures that both parties are thinking proactively about the child’s long-term stability.”
“NASDF is committed not just to providing our members with all the help and support they need, but also walking side by side with them and helping them build towards tomorrow,” added Platt.
Membership in NASDF is open nationwide, including to families in Tampa Bay. Enrollment includes access to Support Insured as well as “a full suite of tools, resources, and discounts designed to support families through every stage of their journey.”
NASDF describes itself as “a not-for-profit organization committed to educating, encouraging, and empowering single and divorced parents.” Its mission is “to bring help, hope, and happiness to single and divorced families across the nation.”
