The city is currently accepting applications for Tampa’s Rental Move-In Assistance Program, also known as RAMP. The program helps residents with move-in help and offers an array of financial resources. Application acceptance is coming at a great time as housing and rent prices continue to rise in the Tampa Bay area.

RAMP helps Tampa residents at 80-140% Area Median Income. The city determines financial assistance per household and can include help with security deposits, first month, and last month rent, and/or ongoing monthly rental subsidy. Families that apply are also eligible for monthly financial literacy.

The city will begin accepting applications starting at noon on March 1, 2022. Applications must include:

  • State ID for all household members
  • Proof of income that includes 3 consecutive months of paystubs or verification of employment
  • If unemployed, proof of unemployment benefits
  • Other sources of income, including child support, SNAP/TANF benefits, and SSI/SSDI award letter

R3 Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Hillsborough County is also opening a program on March 1 to help people who are having trouble paying rent and utilities. The Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) help residents from experiencing further financial hardship or additional consequences because of living conditions. The program provides financial help for rent and TECO electric bills.

Financial assistance can be provided for past-due rent as well as prospective rent. Also, both landlords and renters can apply.
